Module in Educational Technology (Collaborations and Communication Tools)

 Collaborations and Communication Tools

Collaboration tools helps people to collaborate and to support a group or two or more individuals to accomplish a common goals or objective. Meanwhile, Communication tools is the tools that enable the interaction between members of the teamwork and also allow learners to learn and interact each other.

For the purposes of the lesson, collaboration and communication tools are the online tools that allow teachers and students to work together for the teaching and learning process. There is some example of collaboration tools that given in this module such as Blendspace, and for the communication tools is Blogspot.

Technology has the unique ability to strengthen the relationship between teachers and their learners. When effectively integrated into the learning process, technology can help teachers grow into advisory and coaching roles for their learners. What is TES Teach in the classroom (Blendspace)?. Tes Teach Blend Space is an online tool that teachers can use to create online classrooms. This virtual tool integrates technology into the classroom while allowing better collaboration and communication between teachers and their learners. Blend Space creates tremendous benefits like eliminating the possibility of students losing their papers, forgetting when their assignments are due, or missing lessons due to school absenteeism. Besides its benefits to the students, Blend Space also benefits teachers in many ways, especially when creating lesson plans for the online classroom. For instance, Blend Space allows teachers to share learning materials with other users like students and fellow teachers.

Basically, Blend Space allows the user to bundle information from a myriad of resources, including but not limited to the following: Google, DropBox, Google Drive, Gooru, OpenEd, YouTube as well as files stored in the computer. Think of Blend Space as a means of creating a virtual database that is accessible to multiple users. It comes with a very simple insert or drag and drop type of interface that makes it easy and efficient to pull the resources together. All the user has to do is click on new lesson, name it, and begin inserting and sequencing resources in the tile spaces.

Meanwhile, Blend Space, as already mentioned, provides many possibilities to teachers and learners alike. Teachers can use it to curate resources and flip the classroom. There are similar tools out there, and regardless of what you use, having one in place to organize your resources is truly a great idea.

Next, a blog (a shortened version of “weblog”) is an online journal or informational website displaying information in reverse chronological order, with the latest posts appearing first, at the top. It is a platform where a writer or a group of writers share their views on an individual subject. Blog is short for web log. It’s a bit like an online diary or journal, except blogs aren’t necessarily private, instead they’re created for an audience. And just like a diary or journal, a blog is relaxed, making it an easy and comfortable way for students to get writing. Blogs are written on all kinds of topics from A to Z. Readers can usually leave comments, which lead to discussions about the blog’s content. For example, a blog about flipping your classroom can lead to a discussion between novice and experienced teachers about common questions, advice, tips, and clarifications.

As an educator, teachers can use blogs to publish assignments, resources, and keep students and even parents up to date on class events, due dates, and content being covered. Teachers can also use blogs to help students’ master content and improve their writing skills. While, students can use blogs to publish their writing and educate others on a particular topic. Lastly, students can also create blogs for the chess club or the yearbook club, the football team or the upcoming prom.

Lastly, in my conclusion, in this 21st century education, all of this this tool is very important to help teachers and students improve their skills in technology. In that case, teachers can perform well in a classroom with the tools that very effective in teaching and learning process.
